Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. That company processes the query and supplies its results. Lee County Criminal History does not keep a separate log or stored copy of terms entered in those fields.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained so a response can be prepared and the exchange documented. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine technical information may be recorded when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lee County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference information about official channels at the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County courts, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency criminal-history repository, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search tools. Information submitted within a tool is governed by that provider's policy, retention schedule, and sharing rules rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because Lee County Criminal History cannot control the provider's practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to official sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-service, or outside search websites. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's policy controls its collection of information. Check that policy before providing personal details.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for interest-based ads. Their tracking is controlled by their practices.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may still be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that deliver ads
- Analytics companies that measure site use and performance
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information in the site's control. No online system or transmission method is completely secure, so the site cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the contact channel.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Alabama law also restricts acquiring or communicating criminal-offender information by false pretenses or without authority under Alabama Code § 41-9-601. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
